Who we are

Hi, I'm Ivan Borovkov — a Principal Platform & DevOps Engineer with over 20 years of experience building and owning production infrastructure for SaaS companies at scale. I specialize in turning fragile, fast-growing systems into boring, predictable platforms that support revenue growth without operational chaos.

I'm deeply hands-on with Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS/GCP, and CI/CD, while operating at the architectural and organizational level: defining platform standards, eliminating bottlenecks, and enabling engineering teams to ship independently. Trusted by founders and CTOs to own reliability, security, cost control, and long-term infrastructure direction.

I help teams automate, simplify, and scale their systems — from designing multi-cloud architectures to building CI/CD pipelines and implementing observability stacks with Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, and Loki. My approach blends technical excellence with reliability engineering principles, ensuring every deployment is stable, monitored, and cost-efficient.

Key achievements

Platform scaling & architectural ownership

Designed and evolved core cloud platforms to reliably run 6,000+ Kubernetes pods across multiple production clusters, while keeping operational complexity flat. Operated infrastructure handling over 100 million dynamic requests a day.

Release velocity as a business lever

Re-architected CI/CD and release workflows, cutting deployment times from ~40 minutes to 12–15 minutes — a 60%+ reduction — enabling faster, safer iteration for high-traffic, revenue-critical services.

Cost efficiency without growth penalties

Introduced capacity management and cost controls, achieving 20–30% monthly cloud savings while preserving headroom for growth and peak traffic.

Developer productivity & platform adoption

Built internal platform standards and educated 25+ engineers, shifting teams from infrastructure dependency to self-service ownership and measurably improving delivery speed.

Reliability & observability at scale

Built monitoring for 1,500+ cloud instances with business-level metrics, reducing incident resolution from days to minutes. Reduced response times from 2.5s to 0.9s through architectural and performance improvements.

Zero-downtime migrations

Migrated high-traffic production systems across regions and continents with less than 20 minutes of downtime. Designed multi-cloud Kubernetes platforms capable of rolling out tens of clusters across three providers using Terraform, Helm, and GitOps.

Experience

Over the past 20+ years, I've progressed from systems engineering and Linux infrastructure roles into senior and principal-level DevOps and platform engineering positions. In recent years I've partnered directly with founders and CTOs of early-stage SaaS startups, operating as the primary infrastructure owner across multiple long-term engagements spanning 1–3 years each.

My career includes designing and implementing AWS infrastructure with Terraform, building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines across environments, containerizing legacy services, implementing autoscaling and self-healing Kubernetes clusters, and owning end-to-end infrastructure for analytics and platform products. I've also contributed to SOC2 and GDPR compliance projects and implemented security-first infrastructure aligned with industry standards.

I believe in clean automation, knowledge sharing, and creating infrastructure that just works — so developers can focus on what they do best: building great products.

DevOps made simple. Reliable systems made easy.
